Makeup Mistakes to Avoid

It’s always interesting to watch how people present themselves from the clothes they wear, to their make-up, to their communication style, and so on… and we often judge people on what kind of person they are within seconds our eyes land on them. We don’t mean to but let’s face it, most of us do it! We prejudge a person before they even say a word, especially if their make-up isn’t helping their situation.

Here are 5 mistakes to avoid regarding your makeup:

1. The Cake (foundation)
Foundation is meant to smooth out your skin tone and give you a flawless look and overdoing it can make you look like you are wearing icing on a cake. This look makes you appear older and clearly, not up to date. Try mineral make-up instead!

2. Frosty Eye Shadow
Metallic and shimmery shades may look pretty at night but not always that flattering during the day. They may be fun for a teen sleep over party to play with but not for adult ladies. Stick to a matt finish and you will be better off. Be sure you blend the colors well!

3. Clown Cheeks
Does your blush give you bright red cheeks? People often have the wrong color blush and it’s either too strong or it washes you out. The best thing you can do is to try out and test the blush first. Avoid buying blush from a drug store package that you cannot sample first and see if the tone is ideal for you. Blush should be applied to your skin to insure it is the right color for you. For a natural look, apply it lightly over the apples of your cheeks and up toward your temples.

4. Dark lipstick
Lipsticks can make you look older if they are dark in color and give the appearance of thinner lips. No one wants thinner lips! To look more youthful, choose a more natural shade of color that will complement your skin tone. And don’t overdo it with gloss! Simply dab the center of the bottom lip for a little glow.

5. The same old look
Most people apply their makeup on the same way for years and some keep their makeup way too long thinking makeup has no expiration date. Instead you should update your look every season. Visit the spa, bring all your makeup and have them help you select a new look for you and decide which makeup items are good to keep and which to replace. Keep in mind that when you take care of your skin, your makeup will look much more natural! Get into the habit of receiving monthly facials and make sure you are always hydrating your skin with a great moisturizer. Reserve a consultation today!

Another school year has started and many parents are preparing their kids for what we hope to be a great year! Yes, you will need the school supplies, the new shoes, and clothes but don’t forget about the most important part and that is your teen’s skin.

Many studies have been published regarding skin and acne with a recent study indicating that 85% of all teenagers suffer from acne and that acne affects over 50 million Americans.

When acne strikes adults and teens its effect can include low self-esteem, social isolation, loneliness and it can even cause anxiety, phobias or depression. It’s important to have an effective plan to combat acne and to overcome the harmful psychological effects it has on teenagers. Treating acne should be every teen and parent’s first line of defense. Here are tips on how to have acne free skin: This plan consists of two parts, (1) Spa Solutions and (2) Acne free home recipe.

First, you need to visit the spa for a skin consultation and have the esthetician customize a series of acne treatments to help clear the skin. This may include treatments such as: deep cleansing, microdermabrasion, peels etc., but please know that there is no quick fix for acne. It’s a process and it going to need true dedication and commitment to the program to achieve results!

As for part two, the program requires home care regimen to continue the clarification process in addition to the spa professional treatments.

For the home acne clarifying recipe, you will need to:

1. Cleanse the skin morning and evening
2. Use an acne mask once per week
3. Use the prescribed acne spot treatment
4. Apply acne cream morning and evening

Whether you suffer from acne, your child or anyone you know, we invite you to receive a complimentary consultation. Let us help you or your teen regain self-confidence and obtain healthy looking skin so you both can have a great school year! Reserve a consultation today!
